Come join us in our 2nd annual Fishing Derby!

There will be contests for the the most inces of 4 fish, biggest fish, the best 'fishing costume' and more!!

 The Majestic Mesas District of the Greater Colorado Council, Scouting America, is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Grand Valley Fishing Derby, taking place on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at Riverbend Park in Palisade, Colorado. This family-friendly event, free and open to the public, promises a day of fishing fun, prizes, and outdoor adventure for youth and families across the region.

Event Schedule: - Registration: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM - Fishing: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Awards Ceremony: 12:30 PM

Event Details: Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment and bait, as loaner supplies are limited. Please note that barbed hooks are not permitted for safety reasons. Please crimp them down. The derby will feature two age categories: ages 5-10 (with an adult) and ages 11-17.

Additionally, participants aged 16 and older must possess a valid Colorado fishing license. The competition will include awards for: - Best Fishing Outfit (crowd vote) - Largest Fish - Most Measured Inches of Four Fish Fishing Derby Rules: 1. Parents or guardians may assist with casting, but all participants must reel in their own fish. 2. All fish should be measured and recorded by an official event volunteer or Scout/Cubmaster. 3. Colorado state regulations apply, with a daily bag limit of four trout.
