Hey Scouts!!!!

There's more than leaves in the air when aviation merit badge classes resume Oct. 22 and Nov. 26.

Registration is open for both at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Scouts can take the entire course here, and if they work ahead on one requirement, the careers research step, they can complete the work in one day.

This is a "penguin" class, so called because Scouts don't need to fly to earn the badge. Scouts will learn the hows and whys of things that fly, tour the world famous museum, and build and fly gliders made from a foam picnic plate (no joke!). You can also get credit for having taken a flight on an aircraft of any kind, including an airliner.

Our merit badge counselors have a wide range of experience across several military and civilian aviation disciplines. At the end of the class, instructors will discuss opportunities in the professional, private and sport aviation fields. After class, the Scouts can return to the museum to take a closer look at the current exhibits, including the current traveling exhibit, Planet Pioneers. While there Scouts can explore many aspects of living on other planets through several hands-on activities.

Class runs from 10 a.m. to roughly 4:30 p.m. and is included in the museum admission. To register, go to www.wingsmuseum.org and click on the education tab.
