This bundled course if for adult leaders who need to complete both Scoutmaster-Specific (S24) and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS, S11) courses, combined into one training, composed of two parts. Registering for Part 1 Commits you to Part 2.
Learning Objections
- Learn and understand the Aims of Scouting.
- Acquire the Scoutmaster skills, youth leadership skills and administration skills involved to conduct a boy-led troop.
- Know how to accomplish outdoor skills while fulfilling advancement requirements.
- Acquire and practice the skills necessary to instruct Scouts in the EDGE method of learning to lead, plan, and carry out successful campouts.
- Increase Leaders' knowledge of BSA outdoor skills resources.
- Demonstrate the outdoor skills necessary for basic campouts.
Part 1: SM-specific and introductory IOLS-required skills sessions, Saturday, May 13, 2017, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (includes lunch)
Part 2: Course and IOLS completion (camp-out), May 19 (5:30pm) to May 21 (noon), 2017.
For Part 1 session: Please bring the Troop Leader's Guide, Part 1; Boy Scout Handbook; writing utensil and notebook; unbreakable all-temperature beverage cup, plate, fork and spoon; curiosity; a desire to have fun; and all your questions to stump our training staff. Wear you Class A uniform if you have one.
Part 2 session details will be presented during the Part 1 session.
Cost is $30 for food/supplies, camp fees, and training materials.
Part 1 session will be held at Green Mountain Christian Church, 10700 W. Exposition Drive, Lakewood, CO 80226. Part 2 will be held at Kiwanis Lodge, Camp Tahosa, Ward, CO.
