MMD First Ever Desert Games Camporee!

This event will be taking place of Klondike 

and if it is successful 

Desert Games Competition: This will be a cold weather weekend campout for the troops and a Saturday event from 9:00 to 4:00 for the packs. Each group will be given 3 challenges to complete. The troops will have a campsite challenge, a cooking challenge and a teamwork and leadership challenge. Cub Scouts will be in a different area, but will visit the troop area on their way home and will perform a 21 rocket salute.

The location is in a OHV area North of the Delta Airport off of 1575 Rd. The stoplight on the north end of town is at Hwy 50 and H38 Rd. Turn east and then immediately turn North (left) on 1575 Rd. At about as mile 1575 Rd turns left and up a steep hill. Going straight takes you to the airport. Continue north and watch for animals, there is a herd of antelope on the golf course. The turn to the OHV staging area is about 5 miles from the stoplight and is a right turn. (N 38.81867 W 108.06780). The staging area is about another .25 miles. (N 38.81994 W 108.06518). Follow the two track on the right side of the staging area and up a slope. There is a fire ring in the middle of the road. Take a right at the ring and cross a couple small gullies, less than the size of a tire. As the road comes down into the next valley there are several tracks to the flat area on the right. There are rocks in the area so if it is dark have someone walk the track ahead. There are also tracks that turn left into the basin on the left. This area has a mild slope to it. Camp anywhere in these areas. It is accessible to troop trailers if driven carefully. Passenger cars may need to be parked in the OHV staging area.
